THE North Antrim Ulster Unionist Association held their Annual General Meeting at Carnlea Orange Hall near Glarryford.

The guest speaker was Lagan Valley councillor Nicolas Trimble who referred to his recent visit to Carnlea Orange Hall in January when he attended the Association’s annual Burns Night dinner.

Robin Swann MLA , the new Health Minister in the Northern Ireland Assembly, was also at the meeting and provided members with an update on how the Assembly was functioning and the difficult road ahead to catch up after three years without a Northern Ireland government.

He was looking forward to the task ahead and acknowledged the dedication and commitment of the staff in the Health Service.

Outgoing Chairman, Causeway Coast and Glens Councillor Joan Baird OBE, thanked the members for their support during her period as Chairman and wished her successor well.

A new committee was elected which included the re-election of Mrs S Johnston as President, Mid and East Antrim councillor Keith Turner selected as the new Chairman, Jackson Minford as the new Secretary and Roy McClean continuing in his role as Treasurer.

The new Chairman thanked the members for their support and extended an invitation to anyone wishing to join the Ulster Unionist Party. The meeting concluded with supper.
