On eve of localised restrictions officially being introduced in Ballymena no new cases of coronavirus are reported in Mid & East Antrim in last day following 226 tests

ON the eve of localised restrictions being officially introduced in Ballymena on Monday there  were no new cases of coronavirus reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last day out of 226 local tests.

There were 87 new cases reported across Northern Ireland down from the previous daily figure of 104.

There have been 752 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 20,143 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There have been 734 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 9 since yesterday – and 446 – up 1 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 8,314.

Out of the 87 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 21 followed by Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon with 14 and Antrim & Newtownabbey, Lisburn & Castlereagh and Derry City & Strabane each with 9.

Newry, Mourne & Down had 8.

Ards & North Down had 7.

The location of 5 cases was given as ‘not known’.

Mid Ulster and Fermanagh & Omagh each had 2 and Causeway Coast & Glens 1.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health is 568.


In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
