PLANS for a virtual celebration have been unveiled as Mid and East Antrim Borough Council launches its programme for Halloween 2020.
The programme this year will have a very different look and feel due to the current pandemic restrictions.
People are being encouraged to keep the spirit of Halloween alive by engaging with a wide array of activities and entertainment online.
The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston, said: “Halloween will be different this year for families but despite the circumstances a lot of work has gone into creating a virtual experience which can be shared by people across Mid and East Antrim.
“The message this year is very clear – enjoy Halloween safely at home!
“While we may not be able to stage large scale events such as our traditional events in Carnfunnock and People’s Park, various departments across Council have been working hard to deliver an entertaining and alternative approach to Halloween with a packed programme of virtual events.”
The virtual programme will kick off on Monday 26th October through to Halloween night with a wide variety of content for the whole family across council’s social media channels.
Listen to spooky stories, get tips to carve your own pumpkin, watch a magical circus show, listen to local musicians perform plus much more.
Keep the little monsters active with a virtual Halloween scheme from Wednesday 26 – Friday 30 October from physical activities to baking there is something for everyone.
Get a front row seat the colourful myths and folklore of Ballymena, provided through four short features as St Patrick, Galgorm Castle, highwaymen and aristocratic gamblers take centre stage. Prepare to be intrigued and maybe a bit spooked!
There will be great prizes up for grabs in not one but two competitions by showing off your best fancy dress or carving a masterpiece in your pumpkin.
The Council wants you to let them know what you are up to this Halloween using #VirtuallyHalloween to see what spooky fun is going on!
