People’s Park bowling green’s future is being looked at

The future of the bowling green in The People’s Park in Ballymena is being examined by the council.

Councillors were told Mid & East Antrim Borough Council maintain eight bowling greens however those at Greenisland and the People’s Park in Ballymena ‘were not well utilised’.

It has been recommended that council officers engage with key users and stakeholders to examine ‘potential re-use’ of both the facilities.

A further report is to be brought back to a council committee with a final recommendation.

There are a number of privately run bowling clubs in Mid & East Antrim. For example, Ballymena Bowling Club sits adjacent to the People’s Park.

The council is to look at private provision and ‘benchmark’ their facilities against that.
