Police mount ‘coronavirus checkpoints’ in Ballymena area

POLICE have been conducting ‘coronavirus checkpoints’ in the Ballymena area.

Ballymena PSNI Facebook page on Friday posted pictures of officers standing in the middle of roads as traffic approached.

The pictures showed officers at Antrim Road in Ballymena near the Seven Towers Roundabout and also at Main Street in Portglenone.

The police Facebook post said: ‘The local Tactical Support Group are conducting patrols to encourage you to adhere to the Northern Ireland Executive’s direction on #COVID19.

‘We are talking to anyone we see to make sure we all know what we should be doing to keep everyone safe. #StayHomeSavesLives’.
