POLICE spotted a cyclist on the hard shoulder of the busy M2 Motorway near the Ballymena turn-off at Antrim and escorted him to safety.

The PSNI Road Policing Facebook page posted a picture of the cyclist and said: ‘If you follow our page, you will know that our Roadsafe theme this month is “2 wheel safety”.

‘Road Policing Officers from Maydown recently came across this gentleman, who definitely wasn’t cycling safely, as he was on the M2!

‘Thankfully they were on hand to safely escort him off the motorway.’

The police also posted a section of the Highway Code which shows that cyclists must not use motorways.
