Polling station to be set up in Ballymena to allow Romanians to vote in Presidential election

A POLLING station is due to be set up in Ballymena to allow Romanians living here to vote in the Romanian Presidential election.

In a letter to Mid & East Antrim Borough Council from the Consulat General of Romania in Edinburgh, it was heard the first ballot will take place between November 8-10 and a second ballot is expected between November 22-24.

The letter says: ‘In accordance with the Note Verbal No A152/18 issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 14 June 2018 the Romanian Diplomatic Missions in the UK are invited to notify the relevant local Councils and Police Forces about any polling stations established within their district, outside the diplomatic premises.

‘In order to facilitate the exercise of the right to vote for as many Romanian citizens living in the UK as possible, the Romanian Government intends to set up a polling station in Ballymena’.
