THREE requests for ‘drive-in church and carol services’ at Ballymena Showgrounds in December have been approved by Mid & East Antrim Borough Council.

At a meeting in Ballymena, the Mayor, Councillor Peter Johnston, said the recommendation was to approve the requests “subject to their compliance with health regulations and associated guidance”.

Councillors agreed to a proposal from Alderman William McNeilly, seconded by Councillor Timothy Gaston, to allow the events to take place.

A Council report said the events were as follows:

  • Wellington Presbyterian Church – Saturday evening 19 December
  • Irish District of the Moravian Church – Sunday 13 and 20 December
  • Church of Ireland – ‘date yet to be confirmed’.
