19 new reported Covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day is the biggest rise in any district of Northern Ireland.

There were 71 new cases reported across the whole of Northern Ireland in the last day.

There have been 573 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 13,812 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There were 66 new cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last week and in the same period Belfast had 76 new cases.

 

Mid & East Antrim had the most new cases of any district in Northern Ireland in the last 14 day period with 145 while Belfast had 138 new cases over the last 14 day period.

There have been 551 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 10 since yesterday – and 385 – up 6 in the last day – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 6,647.

Out of the 71 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Mid & East Antrim had 19; Belfast had 14; Antrim & Newtownabbey 10 and Causeway Coast & Glens with 6.

There were 5 new cases in Lisburn & Castlereagh; 4 new cases in both Mid Ulster and Ards & North Down; 3 in Newry Mourne & Down and the locations of 3 new cases were unknown.

Derry City & Strabane district recorded 2 new cases and there was one case in Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon.

There were no new cases in Fermanagh & Omagh which last had a new case five days ago.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 559.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 44 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 60 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
