Saturday’s update: Number of recorded covid cases in Mid & East Antrim passes 1,000 mark

THE number of recorded covid cases in Mid & East Antrim has passed the 1,000 mark.

That is the amount of confirmed cases in the area since the pandemic began.

There were 20 new cases in the district in the last day to bring the local total since the start of the pandemic to 1,006.

The 20 new cases came from 219 tests and the 1,006 figure is from 25,217 tests.

The number of new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day was 902 to bring the Northern Ireland wide total since covid arrived to 19,092.

The previous day in Northern Ireland there had been 1,080 cases across Northern Ireland in the last day.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon – 54

Belfast – 210

Causeway Coast & Glens – 42

Derry City & Strabane – 208

Fermanagh & Omagh – 39

Mid & East Antrim – 20

Mid Ulster – 97

Newry, Mourne & Down – 91

‘Not known’ – 17

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 587.
