Saturday’s update: Ten covid-related deaths reported across Northern Ireland

10 covid-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland in the latest figures released by the Department of Health.

7 of the deaths happened in the last 24 hours and 2 before that but have only now been included in the latest statistics.

3 of those who died were aged 60-79 and 8 were aged 80 and over.

4 deaths occurred in Causeway Coast & Glens.

Mid Ulster had 3 deaths.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon had 2 deaths.

The following districts each recorded one death – Derry City & Strabane and Lisburn & Castlereagh.

The number of deaths listed as ‘not known’ was reduced by one in the statistics as a district has now been identified.

The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 923 according to the Department of Health.

According to Department of Health figures there have been 61 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.

There were 26 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.

That was up from 23 the previous day.

The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 2,459.

There were 357 new covid cases in the last 24 hours across Northern Ireland.

That was down from 369 the previous day.

The number of covid cases across Northern Ireland since the pandemic started is 49,442.

Statistics show a weekly breakdown of new cases by postcode areas – for example the BT42 and BT43 areas which take in the Ballymena district had 79 and 23 respectively in the last week. The previous figures were 79 and 20.
