TWO new cases of people testing positive for coronavirus have been reported in the Mid & East Antrim area.
The Department of Health statistics, issued on Saturday, means there have now been 298 recorded positive cases in the borough since the pandemic began.
Statistics relating to the number of deaths regarding coronavirus are different with the Department of Health figure saying there have been 38 deaths in the borough and NISRA (Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency) figures – which are published weekly on Fridays – putting the Borough’s Covid-related death toll at 43.
The NISRA stats show there were 652 deaths related to pandemic across Northern Ireland and the Department of Health’s current figure is 505 with one death being recorded in the last 24 hours.
The one recorded death is believed to be the lowest daily figure for several weeks in Northern Ireland.
There have been 377 cases of people testing positive for coronavirus in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 199 in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.
Across Northern Ireland, it was revealed on Satuday, there have been 41 new coronavirus cases of people testing positive to bring the total of positive cases since the start of the crisis to 4,545.
The daily figures this week for new positive cases across Northern Ireland for Monday to Friday were: 16, 20, 18, 42 and 23.
