The Urban Beach at Ballymena’s Peoples Park has seen many sandcastles created since its launch in July and due to the hugely overwhelming feedback, the beach is to remain on site until 29 September.
This project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Families from across the borough – and beyond – have been enjoying the unique set up in People’s Park over the Summer.
The attraction has provided free activities for all the family to enjoy and the fun filled activities will continue throughout August and September offering more opportunities to build sandcastles and feel the sand between your toes.
Speaking about the decision, Mayor Councillor Maureen Morrow, said she was delighted the project has been a success.
“People from all over have visited the urban beach since it launched at the beginning of July and I am delighted to hear it has been extended.
“What a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.
“I would encourage anyone who hasn’t already been to the urban beach to visit before the end of September.
“This is a unique attraction which has brought coastal life to Ballymena.”
