Shoplifter escapes Ballymena by train but is then nabbed by police at Antrim station

A MAN who stole headphones worth £25 from Currys in Ballymena was spotted getting on a train and police then arrested him at Antrim railway station.

Ryan Best (25), with an address listed as Fernagh Court, Newtownabbey, was detected on February 14 this year.

He appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court via a video link from Nottingham.

A prosecutor said the defendant had an “extensive record”.

Defence barrister Stephen Law said the defendant is currently at a substance rehab course in England.

The defendant was given a three months jail term, suspended for three years.
