St John Ambulance volunteers recognised at special reception in Ballymena

Volunteers for St John Ambulance from Mid and East Antrim have been presented with certificates by the Mayor at a special reception in Ballymena Showgrounds.

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston, presented 41 Certificates for volunteers and four to the District Branches at the event for their work throughout the Covid-19 crisis.

Also in attendance were the Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim, David McCorkell, and Regional Manager of St John Ambulance Northern Ireland, William McCormick.

The Mayor said: “Everyone here has been an exceptional volunteer during the pandemic and helped save lives across Northern Ireland. It has been fantastic to meet them all and I am delighted to personally present them with the certificates of recognition for their work.

“I am so impressed by all who volunteer for St John Ambulance who have worked long shifts alongside the NHS as emergency ambulance drivers and paramedics during the Covid-19 Crisis.

“Their generous and selfless support as volunteers has kept others safe and helped to save lives.”
