Sunday’s update: 19 new covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in past day as overall Northern Ireland total since pandemic began passes 20,000

THERE were 19 new covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in the past day.

The overall Northern Ireland total since the pandemic began has now passed 20,000 after 1,066 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

There were 19 new cases in the Mid & East Antrim district in the last day to bring the local total since the start of the pandemic to 1,025.

The 19 new cases came from 252 tests and the 1,025 figure is from 25,469 tests.

The number of new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day was 1,066 to bring the Northern Ireland wide total since covid arrived to 20,158.

 

The number of new cases in each district in the last day is as follows:

Antrim & Newtownabbey – 59; Ards & North Down – 33; Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon – 46; Belfast – 277; Causeway Coast & Glens – 51; Derry City & Strabane – 231; Fermanagh & Omagh – 46; Lisburn & Castlereagh – 70; Mid & East Antrim – 19; Mid Ulster – 97; Newry, Mourne & Down – 117; ‘Not known’ – 20.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 588.

One covid-linked death occurred in the last 24 hours in the Derry City & Strabane council district.
