Sunday’s update: 41 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim as 5 covid-related deaths are reported in Northern Ireland

THERE were 41 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim and 5 covid-related deaths were reported in Northern Ireland in the last day.

There were 1,012 new covid cases in the last 24 hours across Northern Ireland.

There were five covid-linked deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the last day – two in Lisburn & Castlereagh; one in Causeway Coast & Glens; one in Ards & North Down and one in Derry City & Strabane council area.

The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 1,246.

The number of covid cases across Northern Ireland since the pandemic started is 27,220.

Statistics now show a weekly breakdown of new cases by postcode areas – for example the BT42 and BT43 areas which take in the Ballymena district had 32 and 27 respectively in the last week.

The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 615, according to the Department of Health.

According to Department of Health figures there have been 47 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.
