Sunday’s update: Number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Mid & East Antrim passes 300

THE number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Mid & East Antrim has passed the 300 milestone.

There have been three new cases reported in the area in the last day to bring the total since the pandemic began to 301.

The Department of Health statistics were issued on Sunday.

Statistics relating to the number of deaths regarding coronavirus are different with the Department of Health figure saying there have been 38 deaths in the borough and NISRA (Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency) figures – which are published weekly on Fridays – putting the Borough’s Covid-related death toll at 43.

The NISRA stats show there were 652 deaths related to pandemic across Northern Ireland and the Department of Health’s current figure is 506 with one death being recorded in the last 24 hours.

There have been 378 cases of people testing positive for coronavirus in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 205 in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

Across Northern Ireland, it was revealed on Sunday, there have been 25 new cases of people testing positive to bring the total of positive cases since the start of the crisis to 4,570.

The daily figures this week for new positive cases across Northern Ireland for Monday to Saturday were: 16, 20, 18, 42, 23 and 41.
