Thursday’s update: 12 covid-related deaths reported in Northern Ireland in last day

THERE have been 12 coronavirus-related deaths reported in Northern Ireland in the last day.

Eight of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours and four were earlier but were added to the figures on Thursday.

Three deaths were in Lisburn & Castlereagh.

Newry, Mourne & Down; Belfast and Causeway Coast & Glens each had two deaths.

The other deaths were in Fermanagh & Omagh; Mid Ulster and Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon.

Of the 12 people who died 3 were aged between 60 and 79 and 9 were 80 or over.

The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 752, according to the Department of Health.

According to Department of Health figures there have been 48 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.

There were 33 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.

The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 1,972.

There were 516 new covid cases in the last 24 hours across Northern Ireland.

The number of covid cases across Northern Ireland since the pandemic started is 41,374.

Statistics now show a weekly breakdown of new cases by postcode areas – for example the BT42 and BT43 areas which take in the Ballymena district had 96 and 37 respectively in the last week.
