Thursday’s update: 24 new Covid cases in last day in Mid & East Antrim but area no longer has lowest daily total in Northern Ireland

THERE were 24 new Covid cases in the last day in Mid & East Antrim but the area no longer has the lowest daily total in Northern Ireland.

There were four covid-linked deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the last day – two in Mid Ulster, one in Antrim & Newtownabbey and one in Belfast.

Across Northern Ireland there were 763 new cases – significantly down on the previous day’s record daily figure of 1,217.

Ards & North Down recorded the lowest daily rise of 22 cases.

The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 606, according to the Department of Health.

The number of cases in Northern Ireland since the start of the pandemic is now 23,878.

The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 1,125.

According to Department of Health figures there have been 47 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.

The 24 new covid cases in Mid & East Antrim came from 188 tests and the 1,125 number of cases is from 26,255 tests.
