3 new Covid cases reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last day are the joint lowest rise in Northern Ireland.

There were 259 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.

10 new Covid cases were reported in Mid & East Antrim the day before that.

The 259 new cases reported across Northern Ireland in the last day was down from the previous daily figure of 424 which was a daily record.

The overall number of cases in Northern Ireland is now 11,952.

There have been 866 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 23,476 tests since the pandemic started.

The 3 new cases locally came from 137 tests.

There were 54 new cases in Belfast in the last day; 52 in Derry City & Strabane and the locations of 25 cases were listed as ‘not known’.

There were 36 cases in Newry, Mourne and Down and 22 in Mid Ulster.

Lisburn & Castlereagh had 18; Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon had 14 whilst Antrim & Newtownabbey and Ards & North Down each had 12.

Causeway Coast & Glens had 8 then followed by Fermanagh & Omagh and Mid & East Antrim which each had 3.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 581.

Two further deaths occurred in the Belfast area in the last day.
