THERE have been 8 coronavirus-related deaths in Northern Ireland in the last day.
Three deaths were in Lisburn & Castlereagh; two in Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon and the others were Belfast, Mid Ulster and Newry, Mourne & Down.
Of the 8 people who died 5 were aged between 60-79 and 3 were aged 80 or over.
There were 59 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.
The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 1,704.
There were 822 new covid cases in the last 24 hours across Northern Ireland.
The number of covid cases across Northern Ireland since the pandemic started is 37,216.
Statistics now show a weekly breakdown of new cases by postcode areas – for example the BT42 and BT43 areas which take in the Ballymena district had 81 and 34 respectively in the last week.
The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 688, according to the Department of Health.
According to Department of Health figures there have been 48 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.
Health Minister Robin Swann has urged people across Northern Ireland to “dig in and get through winter together”.
The Minister said: “I know the people of Northern Ireland will join with me in expressing my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have passed away.
“Unfortunately, the predictions that were made about the increase in cases and the consequences this will bring are coming true,” he said last week.
