‘TIS THE SEASON… Christmas lights are on in Ballymena but pandemic means it was all very low key

IT'S A WRAP: The Christmas lights have been completed at The Braid Town Hall in Ballymena.

THE Christmas lights were switched-on in Ballymena today but the pandemic put paid to crowds gathering.

Coronavirus social distancing guidelines meant the Council advised people not to muster on the streets for the festive switch flick.

A Council spokesperson previously said: “The safety of communities is the Council’s top priority throughout the pandemic and we will continue to follow the direction and guidance of the Northern Ireland Executive and Public Health Agency in protecting the public.

“The Christmas lights will be switched on virtually in Ballymena on Thursday 19 November, Larne Friday 20 November and Carrickfergus Saturday 21 November.

“We urge all those in our community to watch the magic from home on these dates. Check our website for more information. #SpiritofMEA #ShopSafe #SupportLocal”
