Tuesday’s update: 12 new cases of coronavirus reported in Mid & East Antrim in last day is highest rise of any district in Northern Ireland

THERE were 12 new cases of coronavirus reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last day – the highest number of new cases in any district in Northern Ireland.

There were 40 new cases reported across Northern Ireland.

There have been 733 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 18,527 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There have been 673 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 1 since yesterday – and 439 – up 2 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 7,908.

Out of the 40 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Mid & East Antrim had 12; Lisburn & Castlereagh 9 and Belfast 6.



Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon had 4 new cases and Ards & North Down and Causeway Coast & Glens each had 2 new cases.

The location of 2 cases were listed as ‘not known’.

Newry, Mourne & Down, Ards & North Down and Fermanagh & Omagh each had 1 new case.

No new cases were recorded in Mid Ulster and Derry City & Strabane.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, has risen by 2 to 567.


The two deaths occurred in the Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon area.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
