PROGRESS on the Toome Road Flood Alleviation Scheme in Ballymena has been welcomed by the TUV.

Party leader and North Antrim MLA Jim Allister said: “I welcome the progress on this long awaited and much needed flood alleviation scheme.

“Too often has the Toome Road area suffered from flooding following heavy rainfall, leaving residents in a constant state of worry and having to deal with the damage to their property.

“While there will inevitably be disruption to complete the necessary works, I hope it will be worth it in the end.

“NI Water will be holding a Public Information Session in Harryville Community Centre on Tuesday 24th September 2019 from 5pm-7pm. I would encourage people to attend and learn more about the scheme.”

Cllr Brian Collins, TUV Braid, added: “For too long the residents of Toome Road have been subject to flooding, and I am encouraged that finally an alleviation scheme has been put in place.

“I would urge residents to attend the public information session, and to be patient during the works which I hope will deliver better infrastructure to deal with flood waters in the future.”
