War of words over call for military museum to be built in Mid & East Antrim

A WAR of words erupted as a notice of motion calling for the construction of a military museum in the Mid and East Antrim Borough was discussed at a council meeting in Ballymena.

The motion was proposed and seconded by two DUP councillors and the Council backed it.

The motion put before councillors read: ‘That this Council explores the possibility and undertakes an investigation of having a museum within the Borough to mark the significant contribution and sacrifice of the Royal Irish Rangers, the Ulster Defence Regiment, the Royal Irish Regiment and other Regiments linked to our Borough.”

However, there was a heated debate between unionist and nationalist councillors.
