Wednesday’s update: 10 new Covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in last day is the highest rise in any district in Northern Ireland

THERE have been 10 new Covid cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last day – the highest rise in the last 24 hours of any district of Northern Ireland.

There were 34 new cases reported across the whole of Northern Ireland.

There have been 541 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 13,039 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

 

80 new cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last week is the highest weekly rise of any local council area in Northern Ireland.

 

There have been 532 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey and 372 in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 6,505.

Out of the 34 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Mid & East Antrim had the highest rise with 10 new cases followed by Belfast with seven.

Lisburn & Castlereagh and Causeway Coast & Glens each had 5 new cases and Antrim & Newtownabbey had four new cases.

Ards & North Down had 3 new cases.

 

 

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 559.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 44 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 60 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
