Wednesday’s update: 3 new cases of coronavirus reported in Mid & East Antrim in last day

THERE were 3 new cases of coronavirus reported in Mid & East Antrim in the last day.

There were 49 new cases reported across Northern Ireland.

There have been 736 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 18,780 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There have been 679 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 6 since yesterday – and 440 – up 1 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 7,957.

Out of the 49 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 19 followed by Antrim & Newtownabbey and Lisburn & Castlereagh with 6 each.


Newry, Mourne & Down had 5 cases and Mid & East Antrim and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon each had 3.

Derry City & Strabane had 2 cases as did Mid Ulster.

There was one case in each of the following areas – Ards & North Down; Causeway Coast & Glens and Fermanagh & Omagh.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health is 567.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
