THERE were 45 new coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim and 5 covid-related deaths were reported in Northern Ireland in the last day.
There were 1,039 new covid cases in the last 24 hours across Northern Ireland.
There were 5 covid-linked deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the last day – in Ards & North Down, Belfast, Causeway Coast & Glens, Derry City & Strabane and Newry, Mourne & Down.
The total number of cases in the Mid & East Antrim district since the start of the pandemic is now 1,366.
The number of covid cases across Northern Ireland since the pandemic started is 29,992.
Statistics now show a weekly breakdown of new cases by postcode areas – for example the BT42 and BT43 areas which take in the Ballymena district had 67 and 38 respectively in the last week.
The number of covid-related deaths across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is now 629, according to the Department of Health.
Four of the deaths occurred in the last day and the other earlier but is only now been recorded in the statistics.
According to Department of Health figures there have been 47 covid-linked deaths in Mid & East Antrim.
Health Minister Robin Swann has urged people across Northern Ireland to “dig in and get through winter together”.
The Minister said: “I know the people of Northern Ireland will join with me in expressing my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have passed away.
“Unfortunately, the predictions that were made about the increase in cases and the consequences this will bring are coming true,” he said.
