Wednesday’s update: Mid & East Antrim again has lowest daily number of new covid cases in Northern Ireland

MID & East Antrim continues to register the lowest daily number of new covid cases in Northern Ireland.

11 new cases were reported in the local borough out of 828 new cases in Northern Ireland.

The previous day in Northern Ireland there had been 669 cases.

The overall number of cases in Northern Ireland is now 16,187.

There was one covid-related death reported in the latest information released by the Department of Health. It was in Belfast.

There have been 940 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 24,579 tests since the pandemic started.

The 11 new cases locally came from 217 tests.

There were 208 new cases in Belfast and 197 in the Derry City & Strabane council area; 78 in Newry, Mourne & Down and 75 in Mid Ulster in the last day.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon had 56 cases and Lisburn & Castlereagh 35 and Fermanagh and Omagh each had 41 as did Causeway Coast & Glens.

Antrim and Newtownabbey had 38 cases; Ards and North Down 33 and Mid & East Antrim had 11.

The locations of 9 cases were marked as ‘not known’.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 586.
