Wednesday’s update: One death and 12 new reported coronavirus cases in Mid & East Antrim

ONE person has died and there have been 12 new reported Covid cases in Mid & East Antrim.

There have been two deaths reported across Northern Ireland with the other being in the Ards and North Down area.

There were 71 new cases reported across the whole of Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.

There have been 671 cases in Mid & East Antrim out of 16,874 people tested in the area since the pandemic started.

There were 49 new cases in Mid & East Antrim in the last week.

Over the last 14 days Mid & East Antrim had the second highest number of new cases – 138 – compared to Belfast’s 237.


There have been 619 cases in Antrim & Newtownabbey – a rise of 5 since yesterday – and 420 – up 2 – in Causeway Coast & Glens.

The total number of cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began is 7,365.


Out of the 71 new cases in Northern Ireland in the last day, Belfast had 21; Mid & East Antrim had 12; Lisburn & Castlereagh had 9 and Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon had 7.

Antrim & Newtownabbey had 5; Derry City & Strabane 4 and Newry, Mourne & Down had 3.

The location of 3 cases were listed as ‘not known’ and there were 2 cases in each of the following areas – Ards & North Down; Causeway Coast & Glens and Mid Ulster.

Fermanagh & Omagh had 1 case.

The number of people who have died across Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, according to the Department of Health, is 562.


One death occurred in the last day and one happened previously but has now been included in the new daily figures.

In Mid & East Antrim, since the pandemic started, the number of people who died is 46 according to Department of Health statistics.

The Health Department says there have been 61 deaths in Antrim and Newtownabbey and 39 in Causeway Coast and Glens.
