THERE has been a startling surge in deaths associated with coronavirus in Northern Ireland.
Twelve people who tested positive for Covid-19 died in the last 24 hours to bring the total number of people who have passed away to 48.
It was the biggest daily death toll.
The locations of the deaths are not included in the government reports.
The number of recorded cases of coronavirus in Northern Ireland increased by 130 to 904.
The latest government statistics, released on Friday, have revealed the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus continues to rise in the Mid & East Antrim Borough Council area.
The figure is 46 – up nine from yesterday.
There are 59 cases in Antrim and Newtownabbey – an increase of eight from Thursday – and 21 in the Causeway Coast & Glens area – a rise of two in 24 hours.
