Man allegedly had claw hammer during burglary


A man has been charged with aggravated burglary of business premises at Main Street in Garvagh when he allegedly had a claw hammer whilst stealing a handbag on March 22 this year.

Kevin Doherty (28), with an address at the Simon Community in Lodge Road, Coleraine, is also accused of burglary with intent to steal at Lyttledale, Garvagh, on March 23 when he allegedly attempted to steal a Jaguar car key.

The defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from Maghaberry Prison and the case was adjourned to May 13.

The court heard a co-defendant is due to appear at court on April 29.
