Cllr Gary McCleave put up a picture on social media of a well-developed fire.
He said: “I am currently on the scene of a large fire at the new housing development on Glenavy Main St/Glen Rd.
“It is absolutely sickening to see this tonight as these new homes are being built to meet the needs for housing the area and this will cause major delays.”

A house sustained ‘significant damage’.

Seven appliances including a specialist aerial unit responded from stations including Crumlin, Antrim, Lisburn and Belfast.

Fire crews said an operation continued until early on Tuesday.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the fire was contained to a single property in the semi-detached new build.

The Fire Service said the cause of the blaze had been determined as accidental.
