Samurai sword recovered by police following Sunday afternoon altercation

Police have arrested two men following an altercation in the Glynn Road area of Larne this afternoon, Sunday 02 June.

Shortly after 12.20pm police received a report that a man armed with a sword was assaulting another man on Glynn Road.

A 38 year old male sustained a number of minor injuries to his body as a result of the assault. The suspect had made off in a black coloured car before the arrival of police.

A car matching the description was stopped by police in east Belfast some time later and a 32 year old male arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, common assault, theft and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

A samurai sword was also recovered from the car.

A 27 year old male who was driving the car was arrested on suspicion of driving when unfit through drink or drugs.

Both males remain in police custody at this time, police said on Sunday evening.
