NORTH Antrim DUP MLA and Policing Board Member Mervyn Storey has paid tribute to the outgoing Chief Constable George Hamilton for dedicated service to the public as he retires from the PSNI.
Commenting after Mr Hamilton’s final appearance at the public session of the Policing Board in Belfast, Mr Storey said:‘‘George Hamilton has served the people of Northern Ireland with dedication and professionalism over the course of his career in the RUC and PSNI.
“It is testament to his hard work in the role of Chief Constable that the overall level of crime is forecast to continue declining in Northern Ireland. I wish him well as he retires.
“We also look forward to working closely and proactively with the incoming Chief Constable Simon Byrne. Top of his agenda should be addressing rising challenges to the public, not least harmful and nuanced threats such as child sexual exploitation, cyber crime, domestic violence and organised criminality.’’
