Alleged shoplifter is barred from Tower Centre

A man accused of stealing from a number of stores in Ballymena has been barred from the Tower Centre as a bail condition.

Richard John Green (43), of The Traveller’s Rest, Galgorm Road, Ballymena, is alleged to have committed five thefts, three incidents of criminal damage and is further accused of obstructing a police officer on April 9 this year.

He is acused of stealing a £85 jacket from DV8; items worth £41 from Semi-Chem; a jacket worth £70 from Grassmen; a jacket worth £170 from Tommy Hilfiger and headphones worth £35 from O2.

The defendant is also charged with causing criminal damage to a jacket belonging to Tommy Hilfiger; two jackets belonging to DV8 and clothing worth £380 belonging to Grassmen.

The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday where his defence solicitor was Andrew Kinney.

The case was adjourned to July 11 and the defendant was given £500 bail.
