POLICE attended a man’s address in relation to another matter and then found five “mature” cannabis plants in a bedroom.

Adam Borthwick (35) of Green Link in Larne, admitted possessing cannabis and cultivating cannabis in relation to November 23 last year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday, defence barrister Neil Moore said the defendant had issues with addiction.

Reference was made in court to the defendant previously appearing at the Crown Court and Mr Moore said “cannabis misuse was at the hub” of that matter.

At Thursday’s Court the defendant was given a three months jail sentence, suspended for two years.
