POLICE observed a BMW being driven without insurance in Larne’s Seacourt estate and despite sirens and lights being activated the motorist failed to stop but instead sped off before running away from the vehicle.
A prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday a police officer recognised Karl Ashe.
The defendant (29), of Seahill Road, Larne, admitted offences of failing to stop for police at Seacliff Road; using a vehicle without insurance and a driving licence offence relating to the incident on December 16, 2018.
Defence solicitor Kevin MacAllister said the car had been bought for £1,000 and after it had been seized following the incident the defendant never paid to recover it.
The defendant was banned from driving and fined £300.
