Ballymena man who had denied assault charge is found not guilty

Ballymena Court

A Ballymena man who had previously denied a charge of assaulting a male occasioning him actual bodily harm has been found not guilty.

David Raymond Weir (44), of Clonavon Road, had been charged in relation to November 4 last year.

Ballymena Magistrates Court in April this year heard there was an “allegation of a hate crime” and an interpreter would be needed for the contest.

The case was listed as a contest for Thursday and afterwards the Courts Service said the defendant was ‘found not guilty’ and the case was ‘dismissed – on merits’.
