A COALMAN has been banned from driving for a month after being caught driving without insurance for a fourth time.
Rafal Zygmunt Matysek (36), of Ballymoney Road, Ballymena, admitted driving a Peugeot 206 without insurance and without MOT and also pleaded guilty to a driving licence offence.
The offences came to light at Trostan Avenue in the town on October 21, 2019.
The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court on January 9 where the defence solicitor was Stewart Ballentine.
The lawyer said the defendant had “financial difficulties” and the insurance policy had been stopped but Matysek had asked for a “grace period” of three weeks to gather funds.
District Judge Nigel Broderick said insurance didn’t work like that.
The defendant was also fined £375 and the judge said if there is another detection the next ban will be longer.
