Cocaine user found asleep in mother and baby room at train station on July 12

POLICE forced their way into a locked mother and baby room toilet at Coleraine Railway Station on July 12 this year and found a man asleep, who later admitted possessing cocaine, with white powder on his face.

Chris Cole (26), of Gortinure Road, Newbuildings, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday for sentencing.

He also pleaded guilty to being disorderly and resisting a police officer.

When arrested the defendant became agitated and struggled after being placed in handcuffs and a cell van had to be called.

A prosecutor said the defendant continued to shout and swear and families who were in the town for a July 12 parade were nearby.

A defence lawyer said the defendant was of “good character” but “at certain times of the year loses the run of himself”.

The defendant was put on Probation for a year and fined £300.
