A COUPLE who stole items worth £31 from Poundland in Ballymena five days before Christmas “succumbed to temptation” as they had been unemployed and had no money, a defence solicitor told Ballymena Magistrates Court.
Anuta Bojani (28) and Silviu Ioan Seres (22), of Dunclug Park in Ballymena, admitted theft.
They were assisted by a Romanian interpreter at court.
A prosecutor said the theft was captured on CCTV.
The defence solicitor said the couple only arrived here last October and now have jobs.
However, in December, with the “pressures” of Christmas they “succumbed to temptation” at a time when they had no money.
The defendants were each fined £150.
