Court appearance in Ballymena hits man like a ‘thunderbolt’

A SOLICITOR told a judge appearing in court impacts differently on people but for his client it was like a “thunderbolt”.

Lawyer Andy Kinney was speaking at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday where Stuart Miller (22), of Victoria Road in Larne was present for driving offences.

The defendant was detected at 2am on November 22 last year in a Ford Focus at Main Street in Larne.

He pleaded guilty to charges of being an unaccompanied and uninsured L driver with no L plates in his mum’s vehicle which he took without her consent.

Mr Kinney said it had been a “moment of madness” was “utterly out of character”.

The defendant was given nine penalty points and fined £300.
