Court hears banned driver prone to ‘risk taking’

Ballymena Court

A man caught driving while disqualified and without insurance is prone to “risk taking and impulsive behaviour” a defence solicitor said.

Stewart Mawhinney (28), or Rough Lane near Antrim town, had the offences detected at Steeple Road, Kells, last September.

The case was mentioned at Ballymena Magistrates Court where he was put on Probation for a year and also banned from driving for twelve months.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said the defendant had shown a “blatant disregard” to an Order from the court and this was his “last chance”.
