Court hears of Ballymena mum’s frustrating bid to get help for son who has used drugs since age of twelve

Ballymena Court

Ballymena Magistrates Court has heard the mother of a man who has been taking drugs since he was twelve has been trying for several months to get him into a residential rehab but is finding it a very frustrating process.

That’s what solicitor Nigel McIlrath said at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

He was speaking about Steven William Richmond (28), of Carniny Road in Ballymena, who has admitted possessing Class C drugs, Lyrica and Diazepam, on April 10 this year.

Twenty six tablets had been discovered.

Mr McIlrath said there had now been some progress as the defendant had an appointment with the addiction team coming up.

The defendant was put on Probation for a year.
