POLICE received a midnight report that an Audi car mounted a footpath in Ballymena’s Clarence Street and officers then discovered a man had been driving with excess alcohol in his breath after attending a BBQ.
Hadrian Henryk Herman (30), of Doury Grove in Ballymena, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to the alcohol offence as well as being an unaccompanied learner driver who had not displayed L plates.
The incident happened on September 8 this year.
The defendant had an evidential breath sample of 84 with the legal limit being 35.
He told the court: “I’m really sorry”.
The defendant was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £400.
