DRUGS were found in clothing lying on the floor and also under a duvet at a man’s room at the Lighthouse Hostel in Ballymena, the local court heard on Thursday.
Class C drugs – Xanax and Diazepam – were found when the search took place after Russell Cummins came to police attention by leaving behind his wallet containing Xanax tablets and his identification on a train after travelling to see his mother in Coleraine in April this year.
The defendant appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday, via video link from Maghaberry Prison, and he pleaded guilty to possessing Class C drugs.
A defence solicitor said the amounts of drugs found were small and they were for his client’s personal use.
30-year-old Cummins, whose address is now listed as Centenary House at Victoria Street in Belfast, was given a one month jail term, suspended for twelve months.
