A FORMER chef who twice spat inside a police car has been fined £200 and ordered to pay £60 clean-up costs.
Lucasz Wach (26), of Rosses Meadow in Ballymena, committed the offence on August 8 this year.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant had drink taken at the time and had been upset at being arrested.
Another charge was withdrawn.
The solicitor said the defendant was embarrassed and wished to apologise.
He said Wach had been a chef at the time of the offence but lost his job after being remanded in custody.
District Judge Nigel Broderick told the defendant at Ballymena Magistrates Court he had put his liberty in jeopardy because he had been subjected to a suspended sentence but in terms of criminal damage the case was at the “lower end of the scale”.
