Former nurse was disorderly at hospital and then swore at police

A FORMER nurse with 73 previous convictions became disorderly at Coleraine’s Causeway Hospital and when when police turned up she said:”F*ck off you lot, what do you want?”

Denise Gray (56), of Circular Road in Coleraine, admitted charges of disorderly behaviour and assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty on August 29 this year.

A prosecutor told Coleraine Magistrates Court the defendant attended the Emergency Department seeking medical treatment and around 8pm she was disorderly and shouted “foul language” towards police.

A police vehicle took the defendant home once she had apparently calmed down but she then refused to exit the car and had to be assisted to her front door and she struck out.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant had health issues and had a “very relevant record”.

He said she had been given a suspended prison term for previous offending.
Sentencing was adjourned in the latest case to the end of October.
